Hoot Hoot Hooray!

Over the weekend, I finished up my Trimmings Competition project. With one packet of trimmings, I was able to make 7 baby zakka owls! I altered this pattern and made my batch chubbier and in various sizes. And then with the leftover scraps I put together a couple of bunting banners. I was even able to make one more item with the leftover-leftover scraps. I just couldn't stand to throw them out! You can check out all the other entries on Umbrella Prints' Flickr group.

Rain

...drops! Wishing you a lovely day...rain or shine.

Trimmings Competition - A Peek...

Started my projects for the Trimmings Competition. Should have all these little guys finished up in the next couple of days! Stay tuned...

Stamp Carving

Over the past weekend, I tried carving my own stamps. I started off with some simple shapes like dots, raindrops and clouds. Then as I started to get the hang of it,  I challenged myself with something a bit more intricate. I sketched out a lil' stumpy fox and carved away until I ended up with that cute lil' guy above. (He was actually my second attempt...the first one's tail looked severed from it's body!) I packaged him up in a little muslin bag and shipped him off to someone who loves foxes, almost as much as she loves clouds. If you are interested in carving your own stamps, there are some great tutorials here and here.

My Favorite Cookies...

...are alfajores, South American shortbread cookies filled with dulce de leche. Mmmmmm! I usually buy them from Sabores del Sur, but when my friend Maria gave me her recipe, I started making them myself. Since this batch is for someone who loves clouds, I thought it was appropriate to use my special cloud-shaped cookie cutter. Hope she enjoys eating them as much as I enjoyed making them!
